I #NaNoWriMo , Do You?

Hello Lovelies,
Well, we are half way through NaNoWriMo. What's NaNoWriMo? It is National Novel Writers Month. A time to encourage authors to write 50,000 words in 30 days. It is the start of a novel or the whole of a novelette. It doesn't matter if you make the total, just that you made the attempt to write daily. I also participate in Camp NaNo held in April and July. And the #85K90 (85,000 words in 90 days followed by a 9 month plan to edit and publish).
These are excellent tools for those who want to explore their writerly side - #NoWordsLeftBehind.
The world needs creativity and it doesn't have to be perfect. First drafts are called rough drafts for a reason, no one is born the next great author, but it doesn't mean we can't strive. I am not afraid to share my "ugly copy".

Ghost writer book 2 project for 2019 NaNoWriMo
Sequel to Ghost with Cats
Annie said goodbye to Prime Admant Vanth Tal on a Texas beach  then let herself be captured, when they released her for lack of evidence, she disappeared.  A new name and a new life was no protection against the current of fate drawing her back into the problems with Project Pandora and the Eloh. Stopping those who would thieve our resources was a challenge,  overcoming her own fears to become a hero was a trial, but faced with life on Eloh and a society she longs to change, Annie will find her greatest struggle is with her Ink Giver.

Enjoy!

p.s. Confession: I have a weird thing, I am not a writer to become famous or wealthy, I do it to help people, to encourage, because writing encouraged me after my stroke in 2015. And if my stories only make a difference in a few lives, then I am okay with that. I admit I would like to buy a house in Cocklebiddy someday, but that might just be so I can say, "I live north of "nuts land"." (southern aussie humor). I am content if that doesn't happen.

Steamers' Tea and Coffee House by M.M. Ward

Released Sept 12, 2019

Bernadette and Beatrix Austen survived their alcoholic mother's mistakes together. They tried to recover after their grandmum Emma took custody when Jane died and become better adults than their mother.

Wild-child Trixie grew up a gypsy and was all about the party until she landed in jail and expelled from high school. After being released, she started working but couldn't give up her nightlife and addictions.

Sensible Bernadette went to college, and thought she found a nice medical student until the night of her grandmother's death when she was betrayed and left him. A broken-hearted Bernie goes home to bury Grandmum Emma and moves in with Trixie. Together, they reopen the family café as a Steampunk Themed Tea and Coffee House.

Later, Trixie makes a foolish choice that threatens the life of Bernie's son and tears the sisters apart.
After Trixie repeated their mother's mistakes, can she be forgiven by Bernie? Can she forgive herself? Will they survive the new threat Trixie's mistake brought into their lives?

Check out my story for Halloween -
Revelation of A.S.H. by M.M. Ward

"We thought the 9-1-1 alerts were a Halloween hoax. Vampires, Werewolves, those weren't real things... We didn't know they were a threat until after it had begun and then it was too late to save ourselves."

Quinn Shalom Phillips survived the Revelation Night only to discover she had been changed into one of THEM. Now she is looking for the truth and hiding in the Quarantine Zone with a few other survivors. But they are not alone, those left monsters by that night still hunt them. If it wasn't the A.S.H. that made the nonhuman males turn into homicidally insane beasts?
Alpha Commander Jacob Vanguard lost hours on the Revelation Night. One breath was all it took to drag him into the madness. He became a monster only to wake up hours later with no memory of what he'd done. He began rescuing those he found and became a hero but he can't escape the nightmares. He is searching for answers too. He needs to know what was in the sweet smelling snow.

ebook is $2.99, Free on Kindle unlimited or with purchase of paperback copy.

Writing life

Hello Lovelies, So... My writing routine is about focus and scheduling. I belong to #5amwritersclub on Twitter and several word spring groups. I participate in writing goal groups like National Novel Writer's' Month #NaNoWriMo in November and #CampNaNo in April and July. I also am a member of #85K90 (85,000 words in 90 days from Jan 1 to March 31) and finally the #August18K and #August80K writing/editing challenge. I find that having mega-goals and micro-goals helps keep me motivated, whether writing or editing or drafting/world-building/character profiling (the more detailed the better but I encourage leaving space to be creative - nothing set in ink is ever set in stone).
Since, I struggle with my brain damage and memory issues, my writing is sometimes a frantic rush to get the words out before I forget or going back and later reading only to say "what a load of goat poop!" or "Hey, not bad, brain-dead mama!" What I am saying is that you never know until you scribble it down. Things that help me are:
1. Always having a notebook and working pen (working being the operative word 😂) Confession: I have scribbled in highlighter and crayon.
2. The ability to make audio recordings while driving/cooking/other... Ideas love to come when a person has NO chance to write them down.
3. Tell someone - for me, it is my girls. "Remember this for mama." or "I had a story idea/ chapter idea/ plot device thought."
4. Music Playlist! Creating a music list for a WIP (work in progress) or a character can get you right back to where you were when you stopped. It creates moods, memory triggers, even a tempo for your writing.
5. Routine! Making writing a habit, even if you are blocked. Write anything. Creative lists for the grocery or chores. Writing prompts!
6. Sprints are a micro-writing habit that can get you moving, 10 minutes, six days a week is an hour of writing, 1000 words a day is 30,000 words by the end of a month.
7. Don't let anyone discourage you, especially yourself. Writers are their own worst critics. Then there are trolls- I once had a critical agent reject Blue Butterflies, she said "It is obvious you have brain damage and should stop writing." TROLLZ! Ignore them and Ignore your inner critic. Just write! Good or bad, if it is your bliss then do it. Be blessed, Mama Magie
P.S. Anyone up for an hour word sprint this morning? #amwriting #amwritingscifi #amwritingfantasy @nanowordsprints ( 9 days left until #campNaNoWriMo )
